Insurance Excess Waiver
Hire cars in Portugal invariably have an insurance excess, even when the advertising suggests that the rate is "all inclusive". There are a few companies whose rate structure has been structured to include the excess waiver into the price but they are the exception, not the rule. When you are comparing prices, it is vital that you dig into the small print as commonly the cheapest car has the biggest excess and waiver premium!

The premium to "buy out" the insurance excess and reduce it to nil with Auto Jardim is as follows:

Excess of Euros 600 = Euros 8.50 per day	Excess of Euros 1200 = Euros 10 per day
Excess of Euros 1800 = Euros 15 per day	Excess of Euros 2500 = Euros 20 per day

Where you are hiring for 7 days or more you should consider the total cost in relation to the small risk of a claim - if you are prone to bending cars in the UK then the waiver is a really good idea! And certainly we would recommend eliminating the excess particularly for the larger vehicles unless you are used to driving one.
