Within half an hour's drive of Malaga lie, in our opinion, some of the worst excesses of tourist development to be found in Europe. However, the average package tourist wants to get off the plane and relax by a pool within minutes of landing and generally only get as far as Torremolinos, Benalmadena or Fuengirola. If you are prepared to travel a bit further there are some wonderful areas - uncrowded, peaceful, where the restaurants cater for local tastes, not mass tourism; the more discerning holidaymaker.
